Youth Work Ireland Makes a Big Impact at the National Ploughing Championships

Youth Work Ireland and its member youth services from across the country headed to the National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, Tuallamore where thousands of visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the power and potential of youth work.

Throughout the event, the Youth Work Ireland stand was buzzing with activity as young people, youth workers and volunteers showcased the wide range of opportunities available through youth work in communities nationwide. Visitors took part in hands-on youth work activities, interactive demonstrations, daily challenges and competitions, giving them a real taste of the positive experiences that youth work provides for young people every day.

A key focus of the event was raising awareness of the Youth Work for All campaign, which calls for every young person to have access to quality youth work opportunities in their local community. The Ploughing provided a valuable platform to engage with families, community members, policymakers and elected representatives about the importance of investing in youth services and ensuring that all young people can benefit from the support, friendships, learning and personal development opportunities that youth work offers.

The three-day event provided an opportunity highlight the role youth work plays in supporting young people’s wellbeing, participation and inclusion. The enthusiasm and engagement from visitors demonstrated the strong public support for youth work and the vital contribution it makes to communities across Ireland.

Youth Work Ireland would like to thank everyone who visited the stand, took part in activities and supported the Youth Work for All campaign. We look forward to continuing to champion youth work and ensuring that every young person has the opportunity to participate, belong and thrive through youth work.
