Youth Work Ireland is Proud to Launch a New Online Youth Cáfe to Support Marginalised Young LGBTQI+ People

Youth Work Ireland with the support of the DCEDIY’s LGBTI+ Community Fund is launching a new online youth cáfe to support marginalsed young LGBTQI+ people aged 18-24.

As part of our continued Proud Spaces project, this new online youth cáfe will support the most marginalised young LGBTQI+ people engage and benefit from youth work services. The cáfe will have a particular focus on those young LGBTQI+ people with neurodiverse needs, as this group were identifed by youth workers in the Proud Spaces Community of Practice group as being a particularly vulernable cohort of young people in need of dedicated supports and services.

The online cáfe will take place each month and will create safe spaces for young neurodiverse LGBTQI+ people to connect safely with peers and be supported by trained youth workers. The youth café will strive to reach the most marginalised young neurodiverse LGBTQI+ people who feel excluded from society or who are geographically isolated.

The overall aim of the youth café will be to create pathways where these young people can be supported into a physical youth work setting where they can get the benefits of youth work, develop social skills, make friends and connections.

Youth Work Ireland is a rights-based and youth-led national organisation who provide quality and evidenced based youth services to young people. With our members we are the largest providers of LGBTQI+ youth work services in rural Ireland and we believe in the power of youth work to impact positively on the lives of all young people and their communities
